kinda wishing I was on a beach right now, frolicking through the shallow water along the coast line, and wearing this easy breezy ensemble

nice work Gap! these are beauties.
My sweet sweet aunts: Debbie and Denise. So joyful, so loving. Sharing a laugh after blowing out the candles on their joint birthday cake. Sibling love, you just can’t beat it.

Oh look, Kate jumped on the coral train too (and she’s looking gorg). Glad I’m not the only one who wants to wear an entire outfit in this color (including her hair piece).

Railroad Revival Tour: Travel Diary →
Well the Railroad Revival concert last night was EPIC. Old Crow Medicine Show. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Mumford and Sons. Unreal.
It’s a busy day (only three more classes to attend to finish out my last semester of college, but all have a major project or presentation). However, I’ve got lots to share about the show (including making friends with someone on the camera...
a nice camera of my very own!
Currently I take photos on my refurbished cannon power shot. The camera is lovely but buying refurbished was a BIG mistake. I was trying to save some cash in the short run after my old camera was stolen, but turns out it hurt me in the long run because the lens can’t zoom and the photos are often blurry. The best pics I get these days are coming from my iPhone, which are great, but...
jenis: the royal wedding collection
A Royal Wedding is history being made before our eyes. But, if you can’t be with Prince William and Catherine Middleton in person Friday at Westminster Abbey, our procession of limited-edition ice creams will transport you across the pond in majestic style and spirit.
Each spirited flavor in the online-only Ice Creams for the Royal Wedding collection is inspired by the refreshing,...
For the record, I started training today for the Chicago marathon in OCTOBER.

Man, that came up fast! (or am I just really early?) 24 weeks away though, how crazy is that? Pretty excited I’ll have my sister/ running buddy / motivator living 2 blocks away again this summer though + so many others in the neighborhood gearing up. Guaranteed that’ll be the only thing getting me...
crazy about chambray skirts
My chambray shirt is probably the most-worn item in my closet. Lately I’ve been craving a chambray skirt to be the bottom half counterpart in my wardrobe. The funny thing is, a lot of the light-jean button-front styles I’m seeing remind me of a skort my mom used to wear back in the 90s. I guess it’s true, the styles keep recycling themselves. Which one’s your favorite?

Cambridge Satchel Company, you made a good thing! Fluorescent yellow or fluorescent orange? Tough decision. I want need this bag.

I’ve had the privilege to travel throughout my youth. In my 23 years, I’ve traveled to 9 countries outside of the U.S. and what a blessing all those experiences have been. I’ve spent a summer taking classes in London, with trips around England, Scotland, and Whales on the weekends. I spent a summer interning for a senator on Capitol Hill in DC, while also living with an amazing...
If I ever had to host an event in Dallas, it would be at the Nasher Sculpture Center, no questions asked. I was up in Dallas about two weeks ago visiting Baylor alumni and fundraising for student scholarships. On a short break in between two of our meetings, my friend Jessica and I explored around the Dallas arts district. We discovered The Nasher, a great indoor/outdoor space housing beautiful...

FEED program & Pottery Barn team up
Two years ago my sister bought me the FEED 100 bag and I love it. It’s the perfect tote for bagging my groceries every week.
I recently discovered the partnership between Pottery Barn and the FEED program. They are selling a water bottle, bag, containers, and spork—check out the item selection here. I’m digging this FEED bag almost as much as I love the Apolis Market Bag. You...
Kate Spade New York for Adeline Adeline
Kate Spade has partnered with the bike shop Adeline Adeline to release this bike and some accessories like a bike-friendly version of the scout bag with special straps. These limited edition bikes and bags are available exclusively at Adeline Adeline and Kate Spade New York stores.
ISN’T IT PERFECTION??
While perusing crewcuts, I discovered this cute canvas bag. This season I’ve found myself drawn to corals, and this bright neon orange has caught my eye too.
It looks like a great summer carryall—think using it for heading to the beach for the day or going on a quick overnight. $36.50 and free shipping? I’m sold.
Downtown Sound: New Music Mondays in Millennium... →
The popular free concert series will be returning again this summer and the lineup has just been announced. All concerts will start at 6:30 pm on Mondays at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. I’m looking forward to seeing Iron and Wine on June 6 and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists on July 25 (not to mention attending the Dispatch show on June 8th in this great venue)! Click on the link to see the...
The Avett Brothers in Chicago! →
The Avett Brothers will be playing a show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago on Friday September 30th. Happy one-day-late 24th birthday to me! Glad tix are still available, now I’ve got to find a friend to go with me. Sister?
passing the torch
Last April I found out that I was selected to be the Student Foundation Co-President for the 2010-2011 school year. After serving in this organization for a year, I was so excited to be taking a leadership role and working with a wonderful group of seven other members who make up our Steering Committee.

4.5.11: One Day Without Shoes
On Tuesday I participated in One Day Without Shoes, a global event created by TOMS.
It was a beautiful day in Waco, but that doesn’t mean that your feet are comfortable going around barefoot all day. I stepped on a couple of sticky burrs, and cringed as I had to walk over some loose and sharp gravel. However, it was also kind of exhilarating to not be wearing shoes-reminded me of the...
THIS is a festival I’m excited to see! From July 8-10, 2011 DMB’s summer festival tour will take over the south side of Chicago. Ticket go on sale 4/15 and will only be sold in 3-day passes, starting at $195, ouch. I’m excited to learn how the festival site on the south side gets developed for this (and future events). Look at this stellar line up:

Can multiple places feel like home all at once? I believe so. Actually, I know so.
Chicago is my home. It’s characterized by family of all kinds. I’ve got family in my immediate relatives up to second cousins. I’ve build family in the form of friends who have known me since fifth grade. I’ve experienced life with these people through the good and the bad of growing up,...
