I met Maggie on the race course of the 2011 Chicago Marathon. Somehow she spotted me and my dad running among 40,000 other runners and we said a quick hello, encouraging words, and kept pushing through the rest of the 26.2 miles. She is a total gem in person (as I already suspected from her blog) & is quickly becoming one of my favorite people. We are having fun awaiting festival lineups & planning a visit to any future festival we can dream of (except Coachella, because those tix are sold out…)
She beat me to the newest release earlier today, the upcoming Bonaroo lineup. After looking it over, I agree w/ Maggie, the main headliners don’t make me want to buy my ticket this instance. However, as I look through the entire list I see bands I’ve watched perform great shows before, and would love to see again (Dispatch, The Civil Wars, Kathleen Edwards, Phish, Grouplove, Laura Marling, Fitz & The Tantrums, Robert Randolph, Flogging Molly, Ben Folds, Blind Pilot) and others I’ve wanted to see live but have never had the chance to (The Avett Brothers, Bon Iver, Delta Spirit, Alabama Shakes, City and Colour, Foster the People, Feist among others). And sometimes (I would argue often), the bands on the smaller stages at festivals play their hearts out even stronger for the crowd (exhibit A: My Name Is John Michael’s performance at ACL 2010).
Maggie-I think this could be the festival if you’re in. Let’s camp out!
