on the radar: Uncharted Books
Uncharted Books sounds really interesting-it’s a used bookstore in Logan Square that’s been open for a little over a month (funded by Kickstarter!). Best described from their about page on their tumblr:
Uncharted Books opened in Logan Square on January 13, 2012.
We sell used literature and nonfiction, from vintage to almost new.
We will host open salons for writers, storytellers, artists, and students.
We encourage browsing, loitering, chit-chatting, socializing, drinking, eating, writing, working, hanging out, and staying in.
We accept donations, and we buy books for more than you think.
Uncharted Books is about the timelessness of stories. A good story persists no matter the medium, the form, or the age. We believe that stories are resilient, and that the words on the page count for more than the type of paper they’re printed on or the condition of the dust jacket.
We want to be your bookstore – Logan Square’s, the north side’s, Chicago’s.
