Ravinia tickets go on sale today!
Ravinia is an outdoor concert venue in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I’ve only seen one show there (Swell Season, summer ‘10, AMAZING), but the venue is a little slice of heaven. Jump on the Metra train right after work and get off at a stop right across the street. Go for lawn seats, not seats in the amphitheater (trust me). Pack a fancy picnic: some champagne, cheese and the like (quick fix: hit up the olive bar/cheese counter at Whole Foods on your way). Note that there are PROs who go all out—fancy mini tables, glass wear and a full spread of delicious treats. Don’t be intimidated by them, but take notes on how you can elevate your meal next time around. And then enjoy a relaxing long evening in the lawn, picnicking, listening to wonderful live music coming from the amphitheater (and broadcast across the grounds with additional speakers).
